Rep. Butler Honors Rochester Rockets Girls Golf Team at State Capitol

State Representative Tim Butler (R-Springfield) presented House Resolution 837 to the Rochester Rockets High School girls golf team today, the girls golf team was recognized in the House gallery during Tuesday’s session for winning the Class A Illinois State Championship.

“Rochester High School has been the school of champions lately,” said Rep. Butler. “I am very proud of the girls golf team on winning the state championship. I enjoyed meeting the team today, an outstanding group of young ladies, they will go on to have a bright future.”


The Rochester Rockets Girls Golf Team won its first team championship after second-place finishes in 2012 and 2013 and finishing third in 2014. The Rochester Rockets Girls Golf Team came back from an 11-stroke deficit to win by 16 strokes at the Red Tail Run Golf Club in Decatur; the Rockets shot a 99-over par to score 675 as a team, besting Metropolis Massac County and Charleston.

Included in House Resolution 837, Rep. Butler recognized each member of the Rochester Rockets Girls Golf Team and coaching staff. The members Class A State Championship team include of the Rochester girls golf team seniors Morgan Savage, Gabby Issacks, and Andria Robinson, juniors Lindsay Alewelt and Katie Archery, sophomores Sophia Barris and Kayleigh Blaney, and Courtney Frederick, Tori Morgan, Kaylee Talkington, Lily Jones, Lauren Brand, Macey Flynn, and Hannah Ramsey. The team is led by Coaches Jeff Hill and Alison Mayer.
